Important Note:

Due to technical issues, COVID-19 laboratory testing data (including percent positivity) from the Ontario Laboratories Information System (OLIS) are not available for the following weeks: July 21 to August 3. As a result:

  • Provincial COVID-19 laboratory data from the Provincial COVID-19 Diagnostics Network is presented in place of OLIS throughout the tool for the weeks noted above.
  • COVID-19 laboratory testing (including percent positivity) breakdowns for public health unit and age group are not available for July 21 - August 3.

When the data from OLIS for these week becomes available, the ORVT will be updated to include this information.

Ontario Respiratory Virus Tool

The Ontario Respiratory Virus Tool provides comprehensive epidemiological information on respiratory virus activity in Ontario, including COVID-19, influenza, RSV, and other respiratory viruses. Explore respiratory virus data including case trends, outcomes (hospital bed occupancy, ICU bed occupancy, and deaths), laboratory testing, and outbreaks. 

Updates as of October 25, 2024:

  • The summary section has been expanded to include projections for COVID-19, influenza, and RSV activity for the next two weeks, influenza strain details, and an overall assessment of RSV activity.
  • Streamlined laboratory testing data using Ontario Laboratories Information System (OLIS) data from June 23, 2024.
  • A new COVID-19 episodes indicator to approximate COVID-19 cases using data from OLIS.
  • An expanded Outbreaks section, with indicators to describe severity.

How to Use The Tool

The tool is best viewed on desktop or tablet.

The tool is updated Fridays, with data up to the previous Saturday. The tool will be updated the next business day following a holiday.
